CSCAA Recognizes Women's Swimming and Diving
For the first time in the 95-year history of the College Swimming & Diving Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) more than 700 teams have received Scholar All-America recognition. Included among the teams was Oswego State women's swimming and diving.

Baseball Makes Longest Postseason Run in Program History
The top-seeded Oswego State baseball team bowed out of its first-ever appearance in the NCAA Division III College World Series with a 9-4 loss to Concordia University Chicago (34-12) in an elimination game on May 27 at Fox Cities Stadium in Appleton, Wis. Oswego – the State University of New York Athletic Conference and New York Regional champions – closes the 2017 campaign with a 32-11 record and the longest postseason run in the program's history.

Hamilton Named All-American at College World Series
Eric Hamilton '17 of the Oswego State baseball team earned All-America honors from both ABCA/Rawlings and D3baseball.com on May 25. It is the second-straight year Hamilton has appeared on those entities' All-America squads, collecting second team accolades from both in 2017.

Sortino Recognized by NY Coaches Association
The Basketball Coaches Association of New York (BCANY) has announced Oswego State men's basketball player Brian Sortino '17 as its Player of the Year and a member of its 2017 All-Upstate New York Team. Wilson Inducted to Upstate NY Hall of Fame
The Upstate New York Basketball Hall of Fame has announced that former Oswego State great Greg Wilson '68 has been selected for induction in the Class of 2017.

Three Lakers Earn All-SUNYAC Track & Field Honors
Three members of the Oswego State men's and women's track and field teams have been recognized by the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) for their efforts during the 2017 outdoor season. Softball Earns Two All-SUNYAC & Coach of the Year
Three members of the Oswego State softball team have been recognized by the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) for their efforts during the 2017 season. Head coach Abby Martin was named conference Coach of the Year, while Ashley Lyman '17 and Rebecca Vilchez '20 both earned All-SUNYAC Second Team honors.

Shattuck Named IWLCA All-Region for Second Time
The Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) has recognized Oswego State's Teresa Shattuck '19 as an All-Empire Region performer for the 2017 season. Shattuck was one of 16 members on the region's first team, and just one of six athletes from State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) institutions.

The State University of New York Athletic Conference has cancelled its 2017 Baseball Championship originally scheduled May 5-7 at SUNY Oswego due to the saturating weather forecast.

Stephen Johnson '17 and Kenny Neil '17 of the Oswego State men's ice hockey team have been named to the American Hockey Coaches Association (AHCA) All-America Team. Johnson was the recipient of a First-Team honor, while Neil was named to the third team.

Three Laker Wrestlers Qualify for NCAA Championship
Three Laker wrestlers qualified for the NCAA Championship by claiming a top-three spot in their weight class at the Mideast Regional Competition in February. Jordan Bushey '20 (184) and Rocco Russo '18 (157) both captured the title in their respective weight classes while Evan Corso '20 was the 133-pound runner-up. They compete in the NCAA's today and tomorrow, March 10 and 11.

Men’s Ice Hockey Ready for the NCAA Tourney
After a devastating 3-2 loss to Plattsburgh in the SUNYAC Championships on March 4, the men’s ice hockey team anxiously awaited its fate on how the season would end. On March 6, when the NCAA Division III selection show announced the at-large bids into the Division III NCAA Tournament, the team and fans alike were excited to learn that the Lakers would enter the tournament on an at-large bid, and continue their season.

First in Oswego State History: Women's Ice Hockey Player Named ECAC Rookie of the Year
Jacquelin White '20 of the Oswego State women's ice hockey team has been named Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) West Rookie of Year for the 2016-17 season. White is the first player in program history to be named Rookie of the Year.

Lakers Baseball Sweeps Wins At Virginia Wesleyan
The No. 18 Oswego State baseball team completed its March 4 road trip unscathed as it defeated Virginia Wesleyan College in both games of a nonconference doubleheader. Oswego improves to 6-2 on the year.

Men's Hockey Advances to SUNYAC Final to Face Plattsburgh
The top-seeded and nationally second-ranked Oswego State men's ice hockey team posted a convincing 6-2 victory over fourth-seeded and national-No. 13/14 Buffalo State in the SUNYAC Championship semifinal on Feb. 25 in the Marano Campus Center Arena. With the win, Oswego advances to the title game at 7 p.m. tomorrow (Saturday, March 4), and will host No. 2 archrival Plattsburgh – who defeated No. 3 Geneseo 5-2 on Feb. 25.

Oswego Wins Third SUNYAC Title in Past Six Years
The top-seeded Oswego State men's basketball team used a hot first half and gritty second to outlast No. 3 Oneonta 75-70 for the 2017 SUNYAC Championship title in Max Ziel Gymnasium on Feb. 25. It is the Lakers' third conference tournament title in the past six years and it earns Oswego its third-consecutive NCAA Championship berth.

Laker Men Go 1-1 On Whiteout Weekend
Tickets for the annual whiteout game against Plattsburgh sold out within the three hours of the box office opening the week before the Feb. 4 game. The excitement of the biggest game of the year rang throughout the air. All across campus students wore their white shirts and by the time 3 p.m. rolled around, fans were lining the interior of the Marano Campus Center to secure themselves a seat to see the annual rivalry game unfold.

Wrestling Standout to Be Inducted into Downstate NY Chapter of National Hall of Fame
Two-time SUNY Athletic Conference Champion Nick Nanos ’69 was selected for induction into the Downstate New York National Wrestling Hall of Fame for his lifetime service to the sport. He will be inducted in April during a ceremony at the Melville Marriott in Melville, N.Y.

Oswego State Hockey Legend Earns National Award
The American Hockey Coaches Association (AHCA) announced its 2017 Major Awards on Jan. 12, naming Oswego State men's ice hockey legend Pete Sears '71 its John Mariucci Award recipient.

Oswego State Athletics Programs Earn NADIIIAA/JOSTENS Community Service Awards
The National Association of Division III Athletic Administrators (NADIIIAA) presented Oswego State Athletics with two first place awards out of three categories for the NADIIIAA/JOSTENS Community Service Awards, given at the NCAA Convention on Saturday in Nashville, Tenn. Wrestler Sean Maloney '17 – at the convention representing 5,000 student-athletes of the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) – was on hand to accept one award while Director of Athletics Sue Viscomi accepted the other.

Emma Geyer '18 Named SUNYAC Scholar Athlete of the Year
The State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) has named SUNY Oswego's Emma Geyer '18 as one of its inaugural Scholar Athletes of the Year. 

Men's Ice Hockey Takes Championship in Annual PathFinder Bank Hockey Classic
The nationally ranked Oswego State men's ice hockey team defeated the Utica College Pioneers, 4-1, in the championship game of the 11th Annual PathFinder Bank Oswego State Hockey Classic. Oswego is now 12-3 on the year.

Women's Basketball Head Coach Tracy Bruno Earns 100th Win
This season, the Oswego State women's basketball team head coach Tracy Bruno earned the 100th career victory, all of which have come at Oswego State in her 10-year span at the helm of the Laker program.

Lakers Never Trail in Men's Basketball Victory Over Oneonta; Lose Nail-biter to Geneseo
The Oswego State men's basketball team opened on a 13-0 run and never trailed on its way to a 80-72 win over Oneonta on Jan. 30 in Max Ziel Gymnasium, then lost a nail-biter on a last possession layup by host Geneseo on Feb. 2. Oswego's record is 12-6 overall and 5-6 in the SUNYAC.

Men's, Women's Ice Hockey Both Drop Rival Plattsburgh on Path to National Rankings
The nationally ranked Oswego State women's ice hockey team defeated the Plattsburgh Cardinals 3-2 on Nov. 19 at the Ronald B. Stafford Arena in Plattsburgh. Hours later, the nationally ranked men's team also took down Plattsburgh in its home arena in a resounding 4-1 conclusion that marked the men's first win over the Cardinals since a 3-1 triumph on Dec. 5, 2014, and their largest margin of victory since a 4-0 shutout of Plattsburgh on March 2, 2013.

Five Inducted to SUNY Oswego Athletic Hall of Fame
Five alumni athletes joined the ranks of 101 accomplished individuals who have been voted into the SUNY Oswego Athletic Hall of Fame, forever solidifying themselves in the college’s athletic history. They were officially inducted into the Hall of Fame at a Nov. 5 ceremony during Homecoming 2016.

Rodriguez '20 Shatters Swimming Freestyle Record
Daniel Rodriguez '20 had a 1000-yard freestyle time of 9:54.07 in a recent meet, breaking a nearly 10-year-old program record by more than five seconds, set in 2007 by Jason Cotter.

Register Now to Attend Athletics Hall of Fame Induction
The Oswego State Department of Intercollegiate Athletics and the Oswego Alumni Association, Inc. have announced the five-member Hall of Fame Class of 2016. On Nov. 5, the following individuals will be inducted into the hallowed hall at an afternoon banquet in Sheldon Hall during Homecoming Weekend: Peter Schieffer '62, Edward L. Pucci '75, Michael Charles '83, Jeffrey Greene '88 and Cathleen Palmitesso '94.

Leone Named DIII Coach of the Year by BCANY
The Basketball Coaches Association of New York released its Coaches of the Year list in early June, recognizing Oswego State men's basketball head coach Jason Leone. Leone was named the NCAA Division III Men's Coach of the Year in New York State.

Men's Ice Hockey Season Tickets Purchase Begins July 15
The Oswego State men's ice hockey team has released its 2016-17 schedule and season tickets will be on sale in the coming weeks. Oswego will host 13 home games in the upcoming campaign, with each of those contests starting at 7 p.m.

SUNYAC Tags Softball's Trovato '16 for First Team All-Conference
Tori Trovato '16 of the Oswego State softball team has been named to the All-Conference First Team for the 2016 season by the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC).

Women's Lacrosse, Soccer Scholar-Athletes Honored
Esther Gabriel '16 of the women's lacrosse team and Chloe Lonergan '19 of the women's soccer team have both earned the SUNY Chancellor's Scholar-Athlete Award as selected by the State University of New York. The award is given to students who have combined academic excellence and outstanding athletic achievement at the Division I, Division III and NJCAA levels at SUNY schools.

Baseball Places Third at New England Regional
Oswego – the nation's seventh ranked team – wrapped up the year with a program-record 35 wins, 11 losses. The Lakers made their second-straight NCAA Division III Championship this season and the program's fifth overall appearance, going 3-2 in the regional, earning its first NCAA postseason victory since a 21-20 triumph over Ohio Northern University in 1984.

Accolades Pour In for Baseball's Eric Hamilton '17
Oswego State baseball's Eric Hamilton '17 was named an All-American by two organizations in May, becoming the first in the program's history to earn the honor since Ryan Hurba '96 and Andrew Clapp '96. Hamilton garnered D3baseball.com All-America Second Team accolades while ABCA/Rawlings placed the junior on its Third Team.

Trio of Women's Laxers Earn All-Region Nods
Three members of the Oswego State women's lacrosse team have been named to the All-Empire Region squad as voted on by the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA). Esther Gabriel '16 earned a spot on the First Team while Erannan Shattuck '16 and Teresa Shattuck '19 both took home Second Team honors.

Iconic Female Athlete Concludes Feinberg Lecture Series
Kathrine Switzer, the first woman to officially run the Boston Marathon, emphasized the importance of opportunity to Oswego students during the final lecture of the Gender in Sports series, sponsored by the Feinberg Family Fund. 

Baseball Sets Program Record
A new Oswego State baseball program record for most victories in a single season has been set, with 29. That breaks the record of 27 the team set in 2013 and 2015.

Oswego State Golf Brings Home First Place Finishes
The Oswego State golf team has claimed two first- and one second-place finishes this season, with the 'B' team tying for first out of eight teams at the 10th Laker Spring Tournament May 1 at Oswego Country Club.

Boyce, Ehrlich Topple School Track and Field Records
A pair of school track and field records were toppled at the Bucknell Bison Outdoor Classic at Christy Mathewson-Memorial Stadium in Pennsylvania in April: one on the women's side and one on the men's.

Feinburg Family Fund Continues to Sponsor Events Exploring Gender and Athletics
Oswego celebrated the anniversary of Title IX with a discussion on the law’s history and its significance in women’s sports with author Susan Ware. The Oswego State men's basketball team had its season come to a close March 11 in a raucous Max Ziel Gymnasium environment, 66-65, to The College of Wooster in the NCAA Division III Championship, hosted on the SUNY Oswego campus for the first time in school history.

Lakers Athletics Challenge Nets More Than $185,000
Both the men’s and women’s Swimming and Diving teams have won $1,000 Participation Awards in the Lakers Athletics Challenge, in which alumni athletes, students and coaches raised more than $185,000 for all athletics programs.

D3 Hoops Names Brian Sortino '17 to All-America Team
Brian Sortino '17 has earned All-America status for the first time in his career, as D3hoops.com named him to its third team. In all, 25 student-athletes were honored by the site, spread across four teams and a group of honorable mentions.

Oswego Women's Basketball Player Rebounds From Unfamiliar Foe
Less than a year after fighting to improve with the Oswego State women's basketball team on the hardwood of Max Ziel Gymnasium, Rachael Windhausen '18 was fighting for something different – her life. Rachael was diagnosed with Hodgkin's Lymphoma after a series of tests and scans over the summer, changing her focus from post moves and jump shots to chemotherapy treatments and survival.

Feinberg Family Fund Sponsors Events to Explore Gender and Athletics
The Feinberg Family Fund, created in 2003 by Robert Feinberg ’78 and his wife, Robbi, is sponsoring a series of events on gender and athletics this spring. The first of these events, a panel discussion featuring three Oswego professors, took place Feb. 17.

The State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) has announced the fall 2015 student-athlete academic awards and 50 Lakers were represented on either the Commissioner's List or All-Academic Team. Of those players, nearly half (24) were present on both lists.

Men's Ice Hockey Places Two on All-Conference Teams
Two members of the Oswego State men's ice hockey team, Shawn Hulshof '17 and Stephen Johnson '17, have been recognized by the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) for their performances over the 2015-16 regular season. 

Women's, Men's Swimming and Diving Teams Take Down Potsdam in Final Home Meet
The Oswego State women's and men's swimming and diving teams celebrated Senior Day with 156-100 and 166-107 victories over Potsdam in Laker Pool. Lakers Senior Day honors went to Emily Doe '16, Emily Karszes '16, Allyson Stewart '16, Alexandra Whalen '16, Zach Gerber '16, Dylan Tiefenthaler '16, Austin Nau '16, Sanjay Raman '16 and John Miller '16.

The Oswego State women's and men's track and field teams competed in the Golden Eagle Run, hosted by SUNY Brockport, where Adam Crumb '17 set a new Oswego State record for long jump.

Sortino '17 Joins Men's Basketball 1,000 Point Club
Brian Sortino '17 becomes the 17th member in school history of Oswego State men's basketball 1,000 point club.

Oswego State Wrestling Splits at NY/PA Duals
The Oswego State wrestling team split a pair of duals on Jan. 3 at the NY/PA Duals, hosted by Lycoming College. Oswego opened against the host to the tune of a 37-5 loss before bouncing back with a 25-15 victory over King's College. With the split, the Lakers are now 2-4 in duals on the year.

Lakers File Decisive Win in Pathfinder Hockey Classic Opener; Fall in Championship Game
In a rematch of last year's NCAA Championship semifinal game, the Oswego State men's hockey team fell to No. 2 Adrian College 5-1 in the final game of the Pathfinder Hockey Classic at the Marano Campus Center Arena on Jan. 3.

Women's, Men's Ice Hockey Teams Provide Donations to United Way
The Oswego State women's and men's ice hockey teams recently presented the United Way of Greater Oswego County with a donation of non-perishable food items and toys.

Amy Templeman ’19 of the Oswego State women's ice hockey team has been named to the Team of the Week by D3hockey.com for the week ending on Nov. 30, 2015. She was one of two defenders in the country to receive this honor.

Lakers Crack Top 25 in D3hoops.com Poll
The Oswego State men's basketball team has earned the 25th spot in the first in-season Top 25 poll from D3hoops.com, which was released on Nov. 30. It is the first time the Lakers have appeared in the rankings since the final poll of the 2011-12 season, when they finished at No. 17.

Oswego Wrestling Finishes 1-1 at Grapple in the Garden
The Oswego State wrestling team finished 1-1 in the Nov. 29 Grapple in the Garden, held at Madison Square Garden in New York City.

Men's Ice Hockey Deals Shutout Victory Over St. John's University
The Oswego State men's ice hockey team defeated Saint John's University 2-0 Nov. 28 at the Radisson Thanksgiving Showcase hosted by Utica College.

Men's Basketball Unbeaten After U of R Invitational Win
The Oswego State men's basketball team downed Middlebury College 70-55 in the first round of the University of Rochester/Holiday Inn Airport Thanksgiving Invitational on Nov. 28, then went on to take the tournament title with a 55-54 win over the University of Rochester on Nov. 29.

The Oswego State golf team nabbed first place of its own 18th annual fall tournament, shooting a 316 on Sept. 21 at Oswego Country Club. Oswego edged Potsdam in the 11-team field, with the Bears shooting a 318 in a runner-up performance.

Late Goal Gives Men's Soccer First SUNYAC Win
The Oswego State men's soccer team broke its streak of three-straight overtime games with New Paltz as Harrison Rieber '17 headed in the game-winner with just minutes to go in regulation. The 2-1 victory gives the Lakers a 4-3-1 record and a 1-1-0 record in the SUNYAC. New Paltz moves to 6-2-0 on the season, 1-1-0 in the conference.

Volleyball Begins SUNYAC Play with Sweep of Cortland
The Oswego State volleyball team opened its first round of SUNYAC Pool Play with a convincing 3-0 (25-17, 25-21, 25-16) sweep of Cortland in Oneonta's Dewar Arena on Sept. 25. With the victory, the Lakers are now 12-5 overall and 1-0 in conference action while the Red Dragons fall to 6-9, 0-1.

New Head Coach for Men’s and Women’s Cross Country Named
The Oswego State Athletics Department hired Sarah Ritchie to head its men’s and women’s cross country programs in the summer 2015. Ritchie also aids the track and field teams in their distance events.

New Laker Turf Stadium Officially Opens
With a flip of a coin, a new chapter for Lakers athletics began Sept. 1 as the new Lakers Turf Stadium was officially opened for play. 

Laker Turf Stadium Kickoff Ceremony
You’re invited to be part of SUNY Oswego history during the Laker Turf Stadium Kickoff, a ceremony to officially open the new athletics stadium. The ceremony begins at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 1 at the new facility across Sheldon Avenue from Romney Field House.

Swimming and Diving Teams Recognized by CSCAA
The Oswego State men's and women's swimming and diving teams were recently recognized as NCAA Division III Scholar All-America teams by the College Swim Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) for the 2015 spring semester. In order to be named on the All-America list, squads must earn a combined team grade-point average of 3.00 or higher.

Women's Ice Hockey Selects Haney as Assistant
The SUNY Oswego women's ice hockey team has hired Greg Haney as its full-time assistant coach as of July 2015. Haney joins the Lakers after spending a year at University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point when the Pointers made a run to the national championship game before falling to Trinity College.

Lakers Schedules Announced
The SUNY Oswego Athletics Department has announced the upcoming schedule for several 2015-16 varsity sports.
