Nomination Deadline and Details

Please complete all required fields below and click "Submit". You should receive a confirmation email to the address you indicate on the form. If you do not receive a confirmation email, your nomination was not submitted successfully.

All nominations must be received by Dec. 1 of the current calendar year to be considered for the following calendar year's awards. Submissions received after Dec. 1 will be held for the following year's round of nominations. Supporting materials are required for nominees to be considered.

Alumni Award Categories and Criteria

Distinguished Alumnus/Alumna Award – The Alumni Association’s most prestigious award honors alumni who have achieved national or international recognition in their field.

Previous recipients include (examples listed in alphabetical order by last name; more examples found here):

Ken Auletta ’63, New Yorker Magazine columnist and best-selling author;
Fred Bieber ’72, medical geneticist with forensics expertise;
Tamar Greene ’09, Broadway actor playing a leading role in Hamilton;
Indie Lee '93, Founder of Indie Lee & Co.;
Alice McDermott ’75, best-selling author and recipient of the 1998 National Book Award for Fiction;
Robert E. Moritz ’85, Global Chairman of PwC;
His Excellency Heraldo Munoz ’72, Chilean Ambassador to Brazil;
Al Roker ’76, Today show weathercaster and feature reporter

Alumni Impact Award – honors alumni who have had a significant impact on the university, the Oswego Alumni Association and/or SUNY Oswego students.

Lifetime Award of Merit – honors alumni who have demonstrated a lifetime of both professional and civic leadership.

Community Service Award – honors alumni for their outstanding achievement in service to their local, national or global community.

Note: outstanding service can be considered that is performed as a volunteer or performed in a professional capacity.

GOLD Award – Awarded to Graduates Of the Last Decade (GOLD) who have achieved career success and demonstrated significant volunteer service to their communities and/or the Oswego Alumni Association Inc. or the university.

Statement of Nomination

Please write a statement of why this nominee should be considered for an Alumni Award. Please be specific regarding how the nominee is outstanding in professional achievements in their field, for service to the college and our students and/or for exemplary service in their local, national or global communities.

Please note: Anticipating that your statement might be lengthy, this form may "time out" before you are ready to submit. We recommend that you draft and save your statement in a separate document, then copy/paste it here, to prevent loss of data.

Each nominator is required to support their nomination by providing supporting materials, such as curriculum vitae, resumes, newspaper clippings, letters of recommendations, etc. We also encourage nominators to reach out to others to help provide supporting materials for your nominee(s).

The deadline to submit all supporting materials for nominees to be considered in the next awards cycle will be Jan. 7, following the initial Dec. 1 nominations deadline.
